ASUN Action Continues in The Coliseum For UWG

2/3/2026 8:30:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - West Georgia men's basketball continues a three-game homestead hosting North Florida this Thursday (Feb. 5) at 7 p.m. in The Coliseum. Links to live stats and the ESPN+ broadcast are tagged at the top of the page.

Over halfway through conference play, both the Wolves (10-12, 4-6 ASUN) and UNF (5-18, 3-7 ASUN) have dealt with ups and downs to get to this point in the season. UWG opened the ASUN action going 3-0, but has since only secured one victory in seven games. On the other side, it took five games of conference play for the Ospreys to break into the win column. Since then, they have gone 2-3 in the ASUN.

Notably, one of West Georgia's first conference victories this year was an 85-73 win over UNF in Florida (Jan. 8). That victory put the Pack at 2-0 over the Ospreys in the all-time series.

In the UNF win, UWG was led by Shelton Williams-Dryden's 27 points, with Josh Smith and Malcolm Noel following his total with 22 points each.

Williams-Dryden has continued his tear since that game. Currently, he leads the team and ranks second in the ASUN in points (20.5 ppg) and rebounds (9.2 rpg) per game, while putting up a seventh-best 49 percent field goal percentage. Recording double-doubles in three of the last four games, Williams-Dryden has achieved this feat nine times this season. Remarkably, the forward is two points away from reaching 1000 points in his career, making him the sixth player in UWG history to do so in two seasons.

Since the last time the Wolves faced UNF, Smith has jumped into the starting lineup, getting the nod in the last three games. Currently, he ranks second on the team and seventh in the ASUN in scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game. In addition to ranking second in scoring, the Chicago native's 50 assists places him third on the team. Shooting under 35 percent from the field in the last two contests, pay attention to Smith's shot selection in Thursday's clash.

As previously noted, the third Wolf to drop 20 or more points the last time UWG faced North Florida was Noel. Notably, that 22-point performance marked the senior guard's career-high. Averaging 7.9 points per game on 41 percent shooting so far this season, Noel has scored double-digits six times, and most recently achieved this feat against APSU (Jan. 31).

Averaging an ASUN-high 21 points per game while shooting 49 percent from the field (eighth in ASUN) and 41 percent from three (second in ASUN) is senior guard Kamrin Oriol. Not only is he recording a second-best three-point percentage, his 3.1 made threes per game average places him third overall in the ASUN. As one of the most dangerous shooters in the league, it should come as no surprise that Oriol led the Ospreys with 28 points in the latest head-to-head with the Wolves. Going over his game longs, the senior guard has dropped 30 or more points four times this season, and he is coming off of a career-high 35-point performance in the latest game. Taking 339 shots this season, Oriel has accounted for 24 percent of the total UNF shots. If No. 11 has the ball, be ready for him to rip it.

Following Oriol in scoring is sophomore guard Kent Jackson, who is averaging 15.3 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field and 38 percent from three (fourth in the ASUN). Like Oriol, Jackson ranks in the top five in both three-point percentage and made threes, with his 3.7 made shots from deep leading the league. In the past 11 games, the only time Jackson was held under ten points was against UWG. Since that last head-to-head, the guard has dropped 30 or more points twice and 20 or more points three times. Watch for No. 10 looking to take his shot from beyond the arc. Of his 288 shots, 223 have been from three-point land.

The Wolves and Ospreys tip off at 7 p.m. in The Coliseum this Thursday. Streaming and live stat links can be found at the top of the page and on the team's schedule.
