Frigid Monday Ends with Sixth-Place Finish for UWG Men's Golf

3/16/2026 7:55:00 PM

ATHENS, Ga. - On a day as bad for golf as any, the Wolves battled the rain, sleet, snow, and frigid temperatures and still finished in the top half of the field at the Southern Intercollegiate at Athens Country Club.

The Wolves shot rounds of 303 and 308 to finish in sixth place in the event hosted by UGA.

For the third straight tournament this spring, Milton Wallin led the way for UWG, posting rounds of 75 and 76 on Monday in Athens. Wallin was the only Wolf in round one to avoid a double or worse as conditions deteriorated after the storm blew through. He rolled in two birdies in round one and then three more in round two on his way to a 16th place finish.

Luke Able, who made his spring debut, and Max Winnersjo each shot 77 in round one and followed it up with a 76. The duo tied for 24th place and Able made one of 10 birdies in the field, making a three on the par-five 10th hole in round one.

In 35th place was Jeremy Edmunds. The senior tied Wallin for low round in the opening round with four birdies on the card. Edmunds closed the tournament with a second round 80.

Thomas Romani was the final golfer in the lineup, finishing in 54th place with rounds of 76 and 83.

Playing as an individual, Will Sutton shot 82 and 81 to finish 65th.

Host Georgia won the event by seven shots over Western Carolina.

It's a quick turnaround for the Wolves who are back in action beginning on Friday at the Linger Longer Invitational at Great Waters Golf Course on Lake Oconee.
