UWG Records Four Top-Five Finishes in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga.- The University of West Georgia men's track and field team opened the outdoor season on Friday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech, recording four top five finishes on day one. 

Sprints & Hurdles
In the 110m hurdles, Ishmeal Neblett led UWG with a time of 15.31, followed closely by Landon Chovanic at 15.46, while Matthew Brunner rounded out the group with a time of 16.32. In the 100m, Gavin Barlow paced the Wolves with a time of 10.56. Michael Willis followed with a time of 10.84, and Vaughn Dickenson Jr. added a 10.86 to complete the group.

Distance
Abenezer Woellore led UWG in the 1500m with a time of 3:58.83, finishing less than a second shy of the program record of 3:58.00 that was set by David Bevans in 1978. In the 5000m, Noah Anderson led the Wolves with a time of 15:02.51 and was followed closely by Alex Njoroge, who crossed the line in 15:02.59.

Jumps, Vaults, & Throws
In the hammer throw, Nicholas Lane led the Wolves with a mark of 42.63m, while Darius McNeal followed closely with a throw of 41.77m. In the javelin, Conner Changizi recorded a throw of 44.53m, and Ethan Butler-Paige added a mark of 43.25m. In the pole vault, Connor McLain and Kareem Nazim shared fourth place, each clearing 4.70m.

The long jump highlighted the field events for UWG, as Godsfavor Adenuga secured a first place finish with a mark of 7.10m. Marcus Thompson Jr. followed with a second place finish after a jump of 6.99m.

UWG concludes day one of the Yellow Jacket Invitational with four top five finishes and will look to carry that momentum into day two of the outdoor opener on Saturday, beginning at 12 p.m. Fans can follow along through live results and on social media at @uwgxctf on Instagram and @UWGTrack on X.
