CARROLLTON, Ga. - The UWG softball team is dipping back to non-conference play for midweek action at Georgia Tech on Tuesday in a 6 p.m. matchup.
West Georgia (11-21, 3-3 ASUN) is coming off of a series loss to Queens while Georgia Tech (15-15, 5-7 ACC) has played seven straight games against ranked opponents, and are 1-6 in that stretch while being swept by Duke over the weekend.
Jenna Samuel, UWG's top hitter, was held hitless in Saturday's doubleheader at Queens, but then got two hits in game three. The junior is batting .414 on the year with a team-high 26 RBIs.
Cacie Cutright had a productive weekend, hitting .375 with two home runs and a double while driving in eight RBIs and scoring three runs.
UWG loves to small ball it and manufacture runs. In fact, two Wolves, Mickey Coslor and Zekylah Boyd are one and two in the ASUN in sac bunts. Coslor has recorded eight while Boyd has seven.
Calli Hardison leads the Wolves in ERA with a 4.79 mark over 61.1 innings. She has started 11 of 32 games for the Wolves and made the last midweek start at Georgia.
Georgia Tech has seven players hitting above .300 led by Alyssa Willer at .376. She is one of three Yellow Jackets with seven home runs, joining Gracyn Tucker and Reese Hunter. But GT's leader in home runs is Addison Leschber with nine.
In the circle, Kenley Hilleary leads the Jackets in ERA with 2.87 over 46.1 innings pitched. Madalyn Johnson has pitched the majority of innings for GT, amassing 95.1 innings and she has a 3.82 ERA in 22 appearances and 17 starts.
The game will be broadcast on ACC Network + and is set for a 6 p.m. start.
