UWG Legends Meet Returns to the City of Dreams

4/1/2026 10:20:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga.- The University of West Georgia men's track and field team is set to host the fifth annual UWG Legends Meet on April 3-4, welcoming 10 programs to the UWG Track Complex as the Wolves continue outdoor competition in the City of Dreams.

History
The UWG Track Complex carries a unique history, originally built in the 1970s and hosting its final meet in 1985. The facility was later renovated in 1995 by the U.S. Olympic Committee to serve as a training site for the Ukrainian National Team ahead of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In the fall of 2021, the complex underwent its first major renovation since 1995, featuring a full track resurfacing, the addition of a jumps runway, and upgrades to both the hammer throw cage and shot put area. These improvements marked the return of home meets in the city of dreams, with the goal of providing a first-class competitive experience.

In 2022, Head Coach Ryan Bailey revived home competition at West Georgia after nearly a 40-year hiatus, honoring the program's early pioneers by establishing the UWG Legends Track Meet. This year's meet will feature 10 programs and continue to celebrate the history of track and field in Carrollton.
