UWG Leads After Day One in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C.- With nine top-five finishes, one event win, and five personal bests, the University of West Georgia men's track and field team leads after day one of the Bulldog Invitational with 66 total points, just three ahead of host UNC Asheville. Day two will once again be streamed on ESPN+ beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Jumps & Throws
In the high jump, Blake Davis led the way for UWG with a mark of 1.96m to earn first place. Isaiah McMichael cleared the same height of 1.96m to finish second, giving the Wolves the top two marks in the event with their only two competitors. In the long jump, Godsfavor Adenuga placed second with a leap of 7.19m, while Marcus Thompson Jr. finished third with a personal-best jump of 7.17m.

In the hammer throw, Nicholas Lane paced UWG, finishing just outside the top five with a throw of 44.35m. Darius Mcneal followed closely behind with a personal-best throw of 44.13m. 
Conner Changizi added a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 45.76m, while Ethan Butler-Paige recorded a mark of 40.06m to round out the group.

Sprints & Hurdles
In the 110m hurdles, Ishmeal Neblett led UWG with a third-place finish, recording a personal-best time of 15.11. Kellen Andrews posted a season-best time of 15.57, and Matthew Brunner added a personal-best time of 15.97, both narrowly missing the top five. In the 200m, Vaughn Dickenson Jr. was the first Wolf across the line with a personal-best time of 21.87, followed closely by Jackson Connors at 21.90.

Distance
In the 1500m, Abenezer Woellore finished fifth with a time of 4:00.61, just two seconds shy of the program record set in 1978. Felipe Barrios followed in 4:06.80, Gabriel Wrye in 4:14.66, and Daniel Murtagh in 4:17.80. In the 5000m, Noah Anderson earned fourth place with a time of 15:05.58, while ASUN Freshman of the Week Alex Njoroge finished fifth in 15:14.73.
