UWG Ready for ASUN Championship Weekend in the Sunshine State

CARROLLTON, Ga.- The UWG men's track & field team heads to Jacksonville, Florida this weekend for the 2026 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The championship meet marks the Wolves' second appearance at the ASUN Outdoor Championships.

History
West Georgia made an impressive debut at the 2025 ASUN Outdoor Championships, finishing fourth overall with 89.5 points in the program's first appearance at the conference's outdoor meet. Year one at the ASUN outdoor championships saw Gavin Barlow secure a runner-up finish in the 100m with a time of 10.67.

Sprints & Hurdles
In the sprints, Vaughn Dickenson Jr. enters the championship as the top 100m runner in the ASUN with a season-best time of 10.46, while Gavin Barlow follows closely behind as the conference's second-fastest runner at 10.47. Michael Willis also enters the event with a mark of 10.61, while David Akinyemi enters at 10.96.

In the 200m, Trey Campbell leads the Wolves with a time of 21.83, followed closely by Dickenson Jr. at 21.87. Jackson Connors enters the meet as the fourth-fastest runner in the conference with a time of 21.90, while Matt Strickland and Akinyemi round out the group at 22.27 and 22.32 respectively.

Connors also ranks fourth among freshmen in the ASUN in the 400m with a time of 49.58. Strickland leads UWG in the event at 48.43, while Campbell enters at 48.98.

In the hurdles, Kellen Andrews has an entry time of 15.57 in the 110m hurdles, while Landon Chovanic enters both hurdle events after recording a 15.46 in the 110m hurdles and a 56.20 in the 400m hurdles. Zachary Wiggins also enters the 400m hurdles with a mark of 57.21.

Distance
In the distance events, Abenezer Woellore enters the 800m at 1:53.74 and the 1500m at 3:58.83, while Gabriel Wrye posted enters with a time of 1:56.46 in the 800m. Solomon Johnson enters the 1500m at 4:05.96.

The distance group will also compete in the 5000m, where Noah Anderson enters with a time of 15:02.51, while Alex Njoroge follows closely behind at 15:02.59.

Relays
West Georgia's relay squads have continued to rank among the conference's best throughout the outdoor season. The Wolves enter the ASUN Championships second in the conference in the 4x100m relay with a season-best time of 40.46 from the group of Campbell, Dickenson Jr., Willis, and Barlow. UWG also ranks fourth in the ASUN in the 4x400m relay at 3:24.12 with the lineup of Conners, Campbell, Chovanic, and Strickland. 

Jumps, Vaults, & Throws
In the field events, Isaiah McMichael enters the high jump ranked third in the ASUN after clearing 2.00m this season. Blake Davis enters with a mark of 1.96m and is currently tied for the top freshman mark in the conference.

In the pole vault, Kareem Nazim enters the championships as the conference leader with a school-record clearance of 4.96m. Connor McLain ranks third in the conference at 4.70m, while Grayson Greene enters as the second-ranked vaulter among freshmen in the conference with a mark of 4.41m. Jackson Thiewes and Samuel Hall also enter with marks of 4.45m and 4.05m respectively.

In the long jump, Barlow and Godsfavor Adenuga enter the championships ranked first and second in the ASUN in the long jump with marks of 7.56m and 7.50m. Marcus Thompson Jr. also enters with a leap of 7.17m, while Ricky Griffin posted a season-best 6.43m.

Adenuga also ranks second in the ASUN in the triple jump with a mark of 14.50m, while Thompson Jr. enters fifth in the conference at 14.19m. Griffin and Davis round out the event group with marks of 14.07m and 13.99m.

In the throwing events, Nicholas Lane leads the Wolves in both the discus and hammer throw with marks of 39.31m and 44.65m. Darius McNeal enters the hammer throw at 45.84m, while Aiden Willis posted marks of 37.27m in the discus and 41.36m in the hammer. Connor Changizi and Ethan Butler-Paige will represent UWG in the javelin with marks of 47.14m and 43.25m.

Multis
In the decathlon, Matthew Brunner enters with an entry of 5709 points, while Kellen Andrews and Changizi follow with totals of 5566 and 4612 points.

The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+ during the final day of competition on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. Fans can also follow along through the live results link attached above.
