West Georgia Hoops Signs Lou Hutchinson

6/11/2026 2:55:00 PM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The University of West Georgia men's basketball team got a little bit bigger today, with head coach Dave Moore announcing the signing of college transfer Lou Hutchinson.

Originally hailing from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Hutchinson is a 6-foot-7 redshirt senior wing who has gained valuable collegiate experience competing for a handful of Division I programs.

"Lou Hutchinson is a skilled, experienced 2-3 wing that has played in 91 Division I games," said head coach Dave Moore. "He adds talent, size, depth and experience on the wing. He can guard multiple positions. We expect Lou to come in and contribute immediately to winning!"

Most recently, Hutchinson played for the Alabama A&M Bulldogs, where he was one of three players to see action in all 33 games last season. With the Bulldogs, the wing averaged four points and 1.7 rebounds per game while totaling 22 assists, nine steals and four blocks. Hutchinson was brought to Alabama A&M by his former head coach, Donte' Jackson, when Jackson made the move from Grambling State.

Competing for the GSU Tigers for one season, Hutchinson played in 30 games and started in five, finishing the year averaging four points and 1.8 rebounds per game while accumulating ten assists, six steals and five blocks.

Prior to competing for GSU, Hutchinson's talents took the wing to Charleston Southern, where he competed in eight games and made six starts prior to redshirting. In that stretch, Hutchinson averaged 4.9 points and two rebounds per game while totaling three steals and two assists. One of his strongest performances was an 11-point, seven-rebound night against NC State.

Hutchinson started his college career playing for Rhode Island. During his freshman year, the wing played in 18 games, averaging 1.8 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

The wing joins college transfers Amir Williams, Justin Redmond and Juaquin Dixon, and high school signee Jaylin Sweat in the UWG 2026 class.
