CARROLLTON, Ga. - The UWG men's golf season officially got underway with the Wolves shooting 294 and 292 in Monday's opening two rounds of the Augusta Jaguar Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club. 

The Wolves, who sit in sixth-place as a team after 36 holes, were led by one of the three true freshmen in the lineup, JP Groat. The Fort Payne, Alabama native began his collegiate career with an even-par round of 72 before posting his first career red number at UWG in his second career round, firing a 71. In total, Groat rolled in nine birdies over the two rounds and begins the final day tomorrow in a ninth-place tie. 

Junior Thomas Romani was the picture of consistency on Monday, firing back-to-back rounds of 72. Romani made five birdies on Monday and is in 15th place individually. 

Hayden Canary opened his UWG career with a 75 before backing it up with an even-par 72 in round two. The sophomore from Douglasville started both rounds with a double bogey on the round's opening hole, and played the other 34 holes of the day in one-under par. Canary is in 25th place with 18 holes to play. 

Freshmen Reid Rockett and Dallas Inch sit in 54th and 61st place respectively. Rockett opened with a 75 and then shot 79 in the afternoon while Inch opened with an 80 and improved three strokes to a 77 in the second round. 

Three Wolves are in the field as individuals, with that trio led by Luke Able who sits in 33rd after rounds of 78 and 71 on Monday. Charlie Fischer opened with a 79 in his inaugural round in the red and blue and then shot 75 in the second round. Gus Darnall, another freshman for the Wolves, shot 82 in his opening round and 80 in the second. 

Tournament host Augusta leads the tournament after firing a team 273 in the second round. The Jaguars lead high-point by three strokes. Belmont, Western Carolina, and Francis Marion round out the top-five with the Wolves one shot back of FMU. 

The final round is set for tomorrow from Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta.
