Carrollton, GA - A three-run inning from the 11th-ranked North Georgia Saints was the difference in Tuesday night's game at Cole Field, as the West Georgia Wolves lost a 2-1 lead in the ninth to fall 4-2 in a mid-week non-conference battle. 

The game was a change of pace from most midweek games, as it was a pitcher's duel between UWG freshman #Jamie Sexton# and North Georgia starter Andrew Wallace. Sexton allowed an unearned run in 6.1 innings of work, striking out six runs. Wallace matched that with one earned run in six innings.

West Georgia struck first in the contest, with catcher #David Buchanan# belting a solo home run in the bottom of the second.

The Saints took advantage of a pair of West Georgia miscues in the top of the fourth, as Terrell Jones led off the inning with a single that was a high pop fly that fell between three Wolves. Center fielder #Brett Wright# mishandled the ball, allowing Jones to get to second. On the next play, NGSU catcher Troy Snitker reached on an error by #Stuart Drew#, giving the Saints runners at first and third. North Georgia followed that play with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at one.

The contest remained scoreless through the next nearly four innings that included a 24-minute delay at the end of the seventh inning due to a power loss on the UWG campus.

In bottom of the eighth, Wright led off with a single to shortstop, followed by a sacrifice bunt from first baseman #Andy Marinelli#. After a balk, #Justin Croft# delivered a single into right center, scoring Wright from third to give the Wolves the lead.

In the top of the ninth, the Saints put up three runs off of both Wright and #Walker White#, then reliever Jacob Rickett closed out the game with a perfect ninth to take the victory.

The Wolves fall to 7-11 on the season while North Georgia moves to 12-6 overall. West Georgia is scheduled to host Ohio Dominican on Wednesday afternoon at Cole Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
