Montevallo, AL - One of the most convincing wins of the season to date for West Georgia came on February 16 as the Wolves blasted Montevallo 11-1 at Cole Field. On Wednesday evening, the Falcons got their revenge, handing UWG an 8-4 loss in Montevallo.
Much of the result came out of the first inning of the game, as Montevallo starter Devon Davis faced the minimum in the top-half, inducing #
Andy Marinelli# into an inning-ending double play after #
Stuart Drew# led off the game with a single.
In the bottom of the first, UWG starter #Anthony Winbourne# faced just five batters, walking three and allowing a pair of singles, all of which scored, to give the Falcons a 5-0 first-inning advantage.
The Wolves pounded out 10 hits in the game, including a 3-for-5 effort from freshman #
Justin Croft#. The Cartersville native scored two runs and had two RBI. Drew and #
Bradford Mattox# also had two hits on the day for the Wolves.
West Georgia remains on the road this weekend for Gulf South Conference play, taking on the West Alabama Tigers in Livingston, AL in a three-game set, beginning Saturday.
