Carrollton, GA - A little over 24 hours after a convincing road victory over Miles, the UWG baseball team received a similar treatment from the Reinhardt Eagles at Cole Field Wednesday night, as the Eagles handed the Wolves a 13-2 loss in midweek baseball action.
The Wolves kicked off the game with a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, thanks to hits from #
Tanner Drennen# and #
Adam Whitlock#. Drennen delivered a one-out single, then moved to second on a hit-and-run with left fielder #
Evan Hester#. The junior put the ball in the right place, hitting a ground ball right where Eagle second baseman Chas Pate was as he moved to cover second on Drennen's attempted steal.
Pate stopped quickly and dove back to his left, picking the ball off the ground and getting Hester at first with a groundout. Next up was Whitlock, who delivered a single into left, bringing home Drennen for the first run of the contest.
That was the bulk of the action for the Wolves at the plate, as West Georgia left 12 runners on over the next eight innings while Reinhardt's bats hammered on the UWG pitching for 13 runs on 19 hits.
Third baseman #
Garrett May# was the only player with mutliple hits for the Wolves on the evening, and #
Blake McLemore# took the loss with his first start of the season.
West Georgia heads southwest for the first time in recent memory this weekend, taking on New Orleans in The Big Easy on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
