Carrollton, GA - It was a cold and windy day at Cole Field in Carrollton, but that did not stop the UWG Baseball team (9-5) from putting up 22 runs on 23 hits against the Christian Brothers Buccaneers to make it a sweep in the first Gulf South Conference series of the 2012 season.

Today marked the first time since April 22, 2007 that West Georgia baseball has swept a GSC series. It also marks the first sweep in conference play for head coach Skip fite. The Wolves won their first two games on Saturday 6-5 and 6-1 against CBU and then completed the sweep today, winning 22-0.

#Max Aeschilmann# got the start for the Wolves and pitched a near perfect game on the mound. He went seven innings, giving up only six hits and no runs. Aeschilmann kept his pitch count under 80 today and moved his record to 3-1 on the season.

The Wolves' offense as a whole today was extraordinary, producing 23 hits in just seven innings of work. #Galen Smith# and #Evan Hester# each had four hits and four RBI's on the day. #Garrett May# hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth giving him three hits and four RBI's on the day. Center fielder #Bradford Mattox# had three hits on the day and knocked in four runs as well. Pre-season All-American #Stuart Drew# went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Freshmen, #Luke Williamson# and #Marquise Vialet#, each had two hits in today's game.

The Wolves next matchup will be Tuesday March 6, versus Coker at Cole Field at 5:00 PM.
