UWG sweeps Paine in Thursday action

Carrollton, GA – Scoring in every inning but two, the West Georgia baseball team took down the Paine Lions 8-0 in today's first game of the doubleheader. In the second game, the Wolves shut down the visitors with pitching and good defense for a 4-2 win.

Game 1:

The Wolves took advantage of the four errors made by the Lions in the first game putting up four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the game out of reach for Paine. Paine's two pitchers only gave up a combined two earned runs with all the rest being unearned because of errors committed by the defense.

Other Wolves who contributed were #Tanner Drennan# with two RBI's, #Adam Whitlock# with a hit and two runs scored, and #Justin Croft# who was 1-for-3 with two runs scored. #Keith Borger# also went 1-for-2 with two RBI's and a run scored.

Game 2:

#Chase Riemer# got the start for the Wolves and nearly pitched a second complete game on the day. Riemer went six and a third innings giving up only two hits and one earned run. Riemer also fanned 10 Lions during his outing. Riemer is now 4-1 on the season.

#Max Aeschilmann# came in to finish the game in the top of the seventh. He faced two batters throwing only five pitches to send Paine home with two losses. This was Aeschilmann's first save of the season.

The Wolves who hit well in the second game were #Evan Hester#, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a homerun, and #Adam Whitlock# who went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a RBI. #Keith Borger# had a hit with a run scored and RBI as well.
