Carrollton, GA - The UWG baseball squad will play host to their rivals from down south, the Valdosta State Blazers. VSU comes to Carrollton boasting an 18-11 overall record with a 9-3 Gulf South Conference record.

The Blazers took two out of three games from nationally-ranked North Alabama this past weekend and another two games from the ranked Delta State Statesmen the weekend before last. Valdosta is currently hitting .320 as a team which is second-best in the GSC. This is because two of the top three batters from the Gulf South Conference are from the Blazers. Christian Glisson and Cameron Graves are each batting over .400 this season and have combined for 11 homeruns and 52 RBIs on the season.

Two Blazers have received the GSC Player of the Week award so far this season and one Blazer has received the GSC Pitcher of the Week.

The Wolves are still hitting over .300 as a team which is good for third in the GSC; just behind Valdosta State and Delta State. #Galen Smith#, who is one reason for the .300 plus team average, is currently hitting .377, which puts him at fifth overall in the GSC.

#Cody Skinner# has been the Wolves top pitcher so far in the season with a 5-2 record and a 3.40 ERA. Right behind him sits #Seth McClure# and #Max Aeschilmann# . McClure has a 2-2 record with a 3.55 ERA and Aeschilmann owns a 4-4 record and a 4.96 ERA.

Valdosta State sits atop the GSC standings and holds a #29 national ranking. West Georgia, after a great start on the year, has fallen to 17-15 overall and an 8-7 GSC record. These two teams will square off Friday at 5 p.m. and then finish up with a doubleheader on Saturday starting a 1 p.m.
