Carrollton, GA - The UWG Wolves, in the final regular season match of the 2013 season Saturday afternoon, stood tall against the visiting Union Bulldogs, powering to a 3-1 victory at The Coliseum to finish the season for the second straight year with 10 wins in Gulf South Conference play.
The win total ties a school record that was set last season, as the Wolves also won 10 games in 2012. It secures a 15-13 regular season record and ensures that West Georgia will have its first winning season since 2007.
West Georgia came roaring out of the gates, blasting their way to a 20-8 lead early, then finishing off the set with a 25-12 victory for the 1-0 lead. The Wolves hit .619 in the first set with 13 kills and no errors while the Bulldogs had seven errors and a less than .100 hitting percentage.
The playlist was on repeat for the Wolves in the second set, as West Georgia had the first seven points of the second set, then went on to win 25-10 to take a 2-0 lead in the match. UWG hit .448 in the second frame and had 15 kills en route to the smothering victory.

Lesley Bemis# ruled the front line and had six blocks to show for it in that span. She finished the night with a match-high seven.
In the third set, the Bulldogs came out strong, building a 12-7 lead early. West Georgia clawed back and tied the set at 17-17, but Union put on another surge and finished out the set, 25-21.
West Georgia never trailed in the fourth and final set, building an 11-5 lead early, then continuing to push until the final result of 25-16.

Tiffany Ancrum# added 10 kills in the match. Reul had a double-double with 12 digs and was two behind team leader #

While no official release has come from the Gulf South Conference as yet, the Wolves will likely play next Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. as the third seed in the 2013 GSC Tournament.
