Baseball Set for Weekend Showdown with Lynn

Carrollton, GA - UWG Wolves baseball are set to face the Lynn University Fighting Knights from  Boca Raton, FL. The series kicks off this Saturday with a double header with the first game at 12:30 p.m. and the second at 3:30PM. The series will wrap up Sunday with the game starting at 1:00 p.m.

Lynn at a Glance
Lynn has played .500 baseball this year, sitting at 3-3 on the year. Head coach Rudy Garbalosa is trying to find some consistency this year as they have alternated wins and losses throughout the year. Garbalosa guided the Fighting Knights to their first NCAA Division II National Championship in 2009 and the school's 19th championship overall.

UWG at a Glance
After UWG lost the first game to Augusta State University last weekend, they rebounded back to win the next two to take the series. This will be the first time Lynn and UWG will match up. Coach Skip Fite and the team hope to continue their perfect record at home of 3-0 this year.

Lynn Batters to Watch
The Fighting Knight's top three batters on the season are all batting .316 on the year. Jason Matusik is, one of those three players, has three doubles on the year and is tied for the team lead in RBI with five. Enrique Perez has six hits as well as a showing patience with two walks. The final guy to watch out for is Sal Giardina Jr. who has six hits and has runs scored three runs this year. Giardina Jr. has also been hit with four pitches on the year, so look for him to crowd the plate when he is up.

UWG Batters to Watch
The Wolves are really putting the bat on the ball this year, and there are some key guys to look out for in this weekend's series. One of these players is shortstop #Dylan Coleman#. Coleman is batting .355 on the year with eleven hits and eight runs batted in. Another key player in this weekend is senior #Evan Hester# who is batting .375 with two doubles and has also accumulated five walks on the year.

Lynn Pitchers to Watch
Lynn has three starters that are really carrying the workload for the team's pitching staff with a total of 27 innings pitched. Kentrail Pierce has only given up three hits in only nine innings of work and has a 1.93 ERA. The second pitcher is Jed Vandernaald who has a 1.93 ERA through nine innings. He has done well at pitching out of trouble having given up 11 hits on the year. The final pitcher to look at is Joe Perrotta who is 1-1 on the year and nine strikeouts.

UWG Pitchers to Watch
The Wolves have seen some great pitching on the hill this year. One of their major weapons is #Jamie Sexton#. Sexton has an ERA of 2.40 and has 15 strikeouts through 15 innings. #Chase Riemer# is 1-1 on the year and has only given up nine hits through ten innings of work.
