Carrollton, GA -The UWG baseball team is off to their best start in recent memory with a 3-0 start. The Wolves finished up with a three-game weekend series sweep of Miles College on Sunday at Cole Field with a 7-2 victory.

Jamie Sexton#, who was solid in his first start since mid-March of 2012, going eight total innings, striking out four batters and only giving up two earned runs. #
Alex Allen# came in for relief in the ninth inning to close out the Golden Bears.
Once again, the Wolves bats started out hot, scoring a run in each of the first two innings. In the first, center fielder #
Shaquille Jackson# led off the inning with a single to left field. After Jackson stole second base and then went on to reach third base on a bad throw down from the Miles catcher, #
Dylan Coleman# drove him in with a single up the middle. In the second, #
Tyler Landmon#'s single found the hole on the left side to bring in second baseman #
Harrison Waller#.
In the top of the fourth inning, Sexton hit his stride, striking out the side in the frame.
West Georgia put the game away in the bottom of the fifth inning when they put up five runs to take a 7-1 lead. The Wolves only had three hits in the inning, but the Golden Bears committed three errors that assisted in the big inning for UWG.

Evan Hester# led the Wolves on the afternoon, as each had three hits in the game. Coleman with 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Hester was 3-for-5 with a run scored. Jackson was 1-for-5 with two runs scored in the game.
For the weekend, the Wolves hit .337 as a team, led by Jackson and his 7-for-12 performance. The junior was 6-of-7 on Saturday and was 4-for-5 on stolen bases for the weekend and had five runs scored. He also had three assists from the outfield to lead the UWG sweep. Coleman was 5-for-10 and Hester was 5-for-11 on the opening weekend.
The Wolves next game is 4:00 p.m. this Wednesday, February 6 at Columbus State. The Cougars won their last game against Nova Southeastern to avoid the sweep and are now 1-2 on the year.
