Carrollton, GA – The Wolves split their doubleheader Sunday with the Union Bulldogs winning the first game 4-2 before dropping the second contest 2-0.

Jamie Sexton# typically is the Sunday starter for the Wolves, head coach
Skip Fite called on Sexton to start game one of the seires.
Sexton once again showed his dominance on the mound as he pitched his fifth complete game of the season improving his record to 6-1 on the year. Sexton surrendered five hits and only one earned run through the nine innings of work. Sexton also struck out nine batters and only walked two.
UWG got off to an early lead in the top of the second inning as they tallied up two runs. The inning began when #

Cameron Eison# picked up the first RBI of the game as he scored Eifert from third off a sacrifice bunt. The second run of the inning came off a single to center field from #

The Bulldogs answered back in the bottom of the third as they scored one run in the inning. Kyle Bryan led off the inning with a single to center field and came into score after an error at first base. However, Sexton got out of the jam as he struck out designated hitter Kody Pinson with bases loaded for the final out of the inning.
The Wolves tacked on another run in the top of the fourth when center fielder #
Shaquille Jackson# scored Landmon on a fielder's choice extending the lead Wolves lead to 3-1.
Landmon and Shirley performed well in the first game of the doubleheader. Landmon went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Shirley went a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI.
The Wolves came away with a 4-2 win in game one. Sexton ended the game by striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth giving him a total of nine strikeouts on the day.
Game 2:

Cody Skinner# was on the mound in game two for the Wolves. Skinner pitched a solid game on the mound going five innings in the seven inning game, only giving up one run off of three hits.
I was a slow moving game until both offenses started to heat up in the fourth inning.
The action really picked up in the bottom of the fourth when
Cody Skinner found himself in a bases loaded no one out jam. Skinner pushed through striking out Cody Pinson, getting Zach Wylie to fly out, but then walked in a run making the score 1-0. Skinner escaped giving up only one run getting a strikeout of Kyle Bryan for the final out.
The Bulldogs added some insurance in the bottom of the sixth inning when Bryan came through with a two out single into left field scoring Benjie Fesmire. Union extended their lead to 2-0 going into the final inning.
The Wolves were unable to score anything in the game, only recording four hits in the contest. Union starting pitcher Derek Roof pitched a complete game shutout with three strikeouts and one walk in the game.
UWG moves to 18-11 overall and 7-4 in conference. Union University improves their record to 6-16 overall and 2-9 in conference play. The final game of the series is set to begin tomorrow at 1:00PM.
