Streak snapped as Wolves fall to Tigers

Carrollton, GA - The first Gulf South Conference road series began with a pair of tough losses at Tartt Field Saturday in Livingston, Ala., as the UWG baseball squad saw a seven-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss in 10 innings in the opener followed by a 4-0 loss in the nightcap.

Head Coach Skip Fite gave the ball to starting pitcher #Chase Riemer# for game one. Riemer was solid for 6.1 innings, allowing just one earned run in that span.

The Wolves got on the scoreboard first when #TJ Eifert# hit his first home run of the season in the second inning. UWG got into trouble in the bottom of the seventh inning. Riemer allowed a leadoff single, followed by two walks that loaded the bases. Relief pitcher #Max Aeschlimann# came into the game to try and work out of the jam, but he surrendered a single into right field that scored both runners on second and third.

For nearly three innings, Aeschilmann cruised, allowing just three hits, but in the bottom of the 10th, he gave up two hits that proved to be the difference in the game. Brett Langha singled to lead off the frame, then eventually moved to third, where Matthew Mcgee singled to score Langha and end the game.

#Shaquille Jackson#, #TJ Eifert# and #TJ Dickson# each had multiple hits in the game, led by Jackson who was 3-for-5. Eifert was 2-for-4 and delivered his first home run at UWG and Dickson was also 2-for-4 in the game.

In the second game #Randall Wright# got the start on the mound. The Tigers put up a quick two runs up in the first inning when Brett Langha scored the first run. Josh Podoris came up after him and singled into left center scoring Mitch Holgat.
UWA also tacked on another run in the bottom of the third when Wright surrendered a double down the right field line. The runner after him singled to the pitcher and Langha scored making the score 3-0.

The Tigers final run came in the fourth when Robi singled to left center scoring Joel Murphy. After the run came in, sophomore #Clint Beland# came into the game. Beland went 2.1 innings in the game and did not give up an earned run.
