Carrollton, GA – The UWG baseball squad hosted a doubleheader today against the Lions of North Alabama. UNA handled the Wolves pretty easily in the first game winning 6-2. West Georgia scored in four of their six at bats in the second game and came away with a victory 6-3.

Jamie Sexton# got the nod in the first game against the Lions. Sexton pitched eight innings giving up 10 hits and five earned runs. After two early runs, Sexton would settle down pitching four scoreless innings until coming to the top of the 8
th where the Lions extended their lead by three.
West Georgia wouldn't get on the board till the bottom of the ninth. Four straight Wolves reached base in the ninth. A fielder's choice from #
Jake Shirley# sent the first run across the plate for the Wolves. Then a pinch-hit RBI-single from #
Trey Dickson# got the UWG their second run.
Eight players for the Wolves had hits on the day, but eight were also left on base. Sexton received the loss making him 8-4 on the season. #
Clint Beland# and #
Randall Wright# also saw time on the mound in game one. Beland allowed two hits and one run in two-thirds innings pitched and Wright threw the other third allowing nothing.
Game Two: UNA jumped out with a 2-0 lead after the top of the second but UWG would answer putting up two of their own to tie the game. A double by #John-Mark Rhodes# scored #
TJ Eifert# and then an RBI-single from #
Keith Borger# tied the game at 2-2.
UWG would go on to score runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to put the game out of reach from the Lions. An RBI sac fly from #
Evan Hester# gave the Wolves their third run. Another Borger RBI-single up the middle gave UWG their fourth run. Then a single from Rhodes in the fifth scored Eifert and Hester.

Cody Skinner# got the start in game two on the mound. Skinner pitched a solid six innings of work giving up four hits and only one earned run while striking out four. #
Max Aeschlimann# came in to pitch in the seventh inning and shut UNA down. That is Aeschlimann's seventh save of the season. Skinner receives the win and moves to 4-5 on the season.
This series will conclude tomorrow afternoon at 1pm.
