Carrollton, GA - The University of West Georgia baseball team took on Young Harris this afternoon for the second time of the season and were defeated 6-5.
#
Seth McClure# got his second start of the season and turned in a great outing with only two earned runs through seven strong innings before serving up a three-run homer to Zach Bricknell in the eighth.
The Wolves got on the scoreboard first in the third inning when #
John Mark Rhodes# reached base on a dropped fly ball by the first baseman. Later in the inning, he ended up coming into score off a balk from the starting pitcher.
#
Harrison Waller#, who started at second base tonight, picked up another RBI for the team in the top of the fourth scoring #
Blake McLemore# from third base giving the Wolves a 2-0 lead.
However, the Mountain Lions answered right back scoring two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 2-2.
UWG had a superb top of the sixth inning when #
Jake Shirley# led off with a double to right center. It did not take him long to score as McLemore came up behind him and belted a two-run home run over the left field wall. Waller continued the inning with a double over the center fielder and came around to score when #
Dylan Coleman# singled into center field.
Young Harris took the lead for good in the bottom of the eighth inning when Bricknell hit a three run homer to tie the game. The Mountain Lions scored their fourth run in the inning when catcher Spencer Thomas picked up an RBI.
A bright spot in the game was that #
Max Aeschlimann# returned from his injury tonight to pitch in the contest. McLemore continued his hot hitting by going 3-for-4 with a single, double and home run, 75 percent of the way to the cycle.
The Wolves move to 20-18 on the year. They now focus their attention on this weekend as they play GSC foe Alabama-Huntsville.
