Weekend Series Features West Georgia at West Alaba

Game Notes

Carrollton, GA - The University of West Georgia now travels to Livingston, Alabama to take on The University of West Alabama in a three game weekend series of Gulf South Conference action.

Wolves at a Glance
UWG heads into the weekend with an overall record of 4-7 and a GSC record of 1-2. On the road, the Wolves offense hasn't been the issue, scoring 39 runs in just four games. However, the Wolves have been outscored by opponents allowing 44 runs. Although, it looked like UWG pitching found a rhythm in their last three-game series against Alabama-Huntsville, only surrendering eight runs.

Tigers at a Glance
UWA is coming into the weekend 8-3 overall and also 1-2 in the GSC. The Tigers are coming off a 3-2 win this past Thursday against Selma University. The Tigers have played nearly perfect this season at home with a 7-1 record, with their single loss coming from the first game of the season against Columbus State in which they lost 4-3.

Wolves Offense
JoJo Underwood has been the most consistent hitter for the Wolves in the 2014 season thus far. Underwood leads the team with 14 hits and 10 RBI. He also leads the team with a .486 slugging percentage with two doubles and the only triple on the team. After sitting out the first five games of the season, Shaquille Jackson has gotten into a quick rhythm hardly missing a beat from the time off. Jackson has started in 6 games, but leads the team with a .423 batting average. In this series, look for the Wolves to continue to put pressure on UWA's catcher, as the Wolves are 22 for 23 on stolen bases this season.

Tigers Offense
Without a doubt, Jocobby Robinson has been the Tigers most versatile player on offense in the 2014 baseball season. Robinson leads the team with a .433 batting average and also with a .533 slugging percentage. He also has a way of coming in to score when he reaches bases, as he has crossed home plate ten different times this season. When it comes to power, look no further than Mitch Holgate. Holgate has started in all eleven games this season and leads the team with 14 hits and 12 RBI.

Wolves Pitching
UWA can expect to see Jamie Sexton and Cody Skinner on the hill this weekend. Both pitchers are coming off great performances against UAH. In Skinner's last appearance, he pitched game one of the series, but was credited with the loss. However, he pitched a strong six innings only allowing two runs off of five hits. Sexton pitched the complete game giving up only one run on three hits picking up the win for UWG.

Tigers Pitching
UWA has had an ace on the mound for them this year in Zach Parks. Parks has a 0.46 ERA through 19.2 innings, and has a perfect 3-0 record. In his last game against Delta State, Parks pitched the complete game in which he only allowed just one run and one walk. The Tiger's also have had another dependable starting pitcher in Fernando Gonzalez. With an 18 to 5 strikeout to walk ratio, he leads the team in strikeouts.

Previous Matchup
Last year the Wolves travelled to Livingston and lost 2 out of the 3 games on the road. The Wolves salvaged the series by winning the final game by a score of 5-1. In the game, Sexton took the hill and pitched then entire game allowing one run on seven hits and striking out six.
