Nighthawks at a Glance
UNG comes to Carrollton, GA with an overall record of 8-10 and a 2-4 record in the Peach Belt Conference. North Georgia has had a rough time as of late, dropping four of their last five games. This is also the Nighthawks first road game of the season, as all of their 18 games have been played home at Dahlonega, GA.
Wolves Offense
As a team, the Wolves are hitting .241 at the plate this year. One of their accent points has been base running, as they are 34-for-40 in stolen bases in the 2014 season. Not only does
Shaquille Jackson lead the team with stolen bases with five, he also leads the team with a .347 batting average. Another player to watch is
Cameron Eison. Although Eison only has played in eight games, he is the only other UWG player to have an above .300 average. Eison, who has caught and at times been the designated hitter, is hitting .389 with a .400 on base percentage.
Nighthawks Offense
With no seniors in the lineup for North Georgia, they are hitting .273 this season as a whole. Junior, Tremayne Toorie, is leading the team in practically every category. Toorie has a .333 batting average and leads the team with seventeen runs scored and ten doubles. If you're looking for power in the Nighthawks offense, look no further than catcher Eason Spivey. Spivey has belted four homeruns in 2014, and has collected thirteen RBI.
Wolves Pitching
The Wolves' team ERA is 4.37 in the 2014 season. The team has leaned on pitching to keep them in a lot of the games this year. In tomorrow's weekday game, expect to see a few different faces out on the mound. Some pitchers the Wolves may possible throw are:
Kyle Jamar,
Colton Duttweiler, and
Taylor Craft. Duttweiler has pitched well this year, as he has a 2-1 record with a 3.45 ERA. He has also started in four games this year picking up seventeen strikeouts.
Nighthawks Pitching
The University of North Georgia has a team ERA just above the four mark. The Nighthawk's most dominant pitcher of the season thus far has been Brandon Agar. Agar has a 4-1 record with a 3.05 ERA. A couple pitchers UWG may see tomorrow may be freshman Blake Gaubert or junior Chip Fleming. Gaubrert has started in three games this year and has a 1.93 ERA. He also has 16 strikeouts to just 4 walks. Fleming actually started the last game between the two teams in 2013.
Previous Matchup
In the previous game between the two teams, the University of North Georgia came away with a slim 7-5 victory that went into the tenth inning at Cole Field. The Wolves tied the game up in the bottom of the ninth inning off a single from
Dylan Coleman that scored
Jake Shirley, but the Nighthawks would add two runs in the top of the tenth to take home the win.
