Carrollton, GA - The University of West Georgia wrapped up the three-game series today against Delta State, losing the final game by a score of 16-10 at Cole Field.

Much like the doubleheader on Sunday, defensive errors haunted the West Georgia team in today's game. Collectively, the Wolves committed six errors in the game, and 13 in the series.

With a record of 2-4 on the season, Jamie Sexton took the hill for the Wolves. Sexton punched out the first batter of the game, but a string of back-to-back errors started the snowball effect of runs for Delta State, and a hole the Wolves were not able to come out of.

Following the two errors in the first inning, Delta State went on to put up three runs off of two singles. The inning continued with a third error on a dropped fly ball that allowed for two additional runners to cross the plate and make the game 5-0.

However, the Wolves did come to hit in today's game, scoring ten runs off of thirteen hits. The teams first runs came in the bottom of the third inning when Harrison Waller and Jake Shirley came up with one RBI each, making the game 5-2.

UWG also added six more runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined. The Wolves scored four runs off of five hits in the fifth innings, then added two more in the sixth, off a fielding error from the Statesmen's shortstop. Galen Smith and Shirley both had three-hit days.

The Statesmen's offense was just too powerful for the Wolves to overcome in the game. Their team added 16 more hits to the 30 they had yesterday and came out victorious in the series.

The Wovles move to 12-21 on the year and 6-11 in the Gulf South Conference. The Wolves have the rest of the week off, and will now prepare for another GSC opponent, North Alabama. The series will begin this Saturday, at UNA, with a doubleheader on Saturday to begin at 3:00 p.m., and the series finale on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
