Schedule Change Marks Early Start to UAH Series

Carrollton, GA - The UWG Baseball team will continue their five game road trip with a stop in Huntsville, AL to take on conference rival Alabama-Huntsville, starting the three-game series with a doubleheader on Friday, February 13, and the last game of the series will be on Saturday afternoon. The series was originally scheduled to begin with a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game Sunday, but below-freezing temperatures forecast for Sunday in northern Alabama forced a switch for Friday-Saturday. First pitch for Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 PM (EST), with an approximate 5:00 PM start for the second game. Saturday's single game will be played at 2:00 PM.

While other players are doing a great job getting on base this season, Dalton Rogers and Garrett Hayes have provided the power by combining for 21 of the teams' 51 RBI. Hayes leads the squad with 11 RBI, while also having the most hits on the team with 12. Rogers is right behind Hayes in RBI with 10 and is tied for second with 9 hits. The duo has anchored the offense to this point in the season and they will be the key for the team as they start Conference play this weekend.

When the Wolves travel to Huntsville this weekend, they will rely on starting pitchers Matthew Norton and Jamie Sexton. They have both looked unhittable at times and have combined for four wins while only giving up one earned run in 23 innings. Sexton is coming off of a great game against Montevallo going eight shutout innings with eight strikeouts. Norton has yet to allow an earned run in 10 innings so far and has seven strikeouts to only two walks.

The UWG bullpen has been very impressive early on in the season. Colton Duttweiler and A.J. Sunstrom lead the team in innings pitched out of the bullpen with 14 innings combined and 10 strikeouts. Tyler Gunnin has pitched four innings and has not allowed any hits or runs while accumulating five strikeouts and one save.
