Carrollton, GA - The West Georgia Wolves baseball team used an impressive 10-1 win against the Young Harris Mountain Lions to move to 7-0 on the season. The Wolves used 13 hits to push ten runs across the plate while holding Young Harris to a run on five hits.
How It Happened
The Mountain Lions scored first, pushing a run across the plate in the top of the first inning off of a single by Zach Beggs. Starting Pitcher T.J. Watson would settle in from there, throwing five innings while giving up five hits and the lone run. He struck out six in the process.
UWG began their scoring in the second inning led off by a single from
Garrett Hayes.
Dalton Rogers then walked, followed by a sac bunt by #
Cade Marlowe#.
Drew Eady stepped to the plate with two outs and delivered a double to drive in his 11 and 12 RBIs of the season. Catcher
Payton Mann followed with a double of his own to drive in Eady.
Tyler Hutch completed the scoring in the inning by hitting West Georgia's third consecutive double, driving in Mann in the process.
The Wolves did not wait long to strike again as #
Caleb Lopes# began the third inning with a single, followed by an error on a pickoff attempt that allowed Lopes to advance to third.
Garrett Hayes then hit a deep fly ball top centerfield to score Lopes on a sacrifice fly. The Wolves then loaded the bases on singles by
Dalton Rogers and #
Cade Marlowe#, followed by #
Chase Waters# being hit by a pitch. A pitch hit
Payton Mann as well, forcing a run across the plate for the Wolves.
The fourth inning also drew some offensive firepower by the Wolves as #
Caleb Lopes# hit his first homerun of the year of the centerfield wall, driving in
Artemis Kadkhodaian who had singled to start the inning. The Wolves later scored in the fourth on a bases loaded walk.
The final score of the game occurred in the fifth.
Artemis Kadkhodaian once again began the inning with a single. He stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. One batter later
Dalton Rogers drove Kadkhodaian home on a sacrifice fly, moving the score to the 10-1 final.

Caleb Lopes# led the Wolves with three hits, including his two-run homerun. #
Cade Marlowe# finished the day 3-3, and
Drew Eady drove in three more runs for the Wolves. #
Dalton Reagin# threw two perfect innings, striking out two.
Ethan Hunter and Tritt Fennell pitched the last two innings, giving up no hits and striking out three combined.
Wolves Draw National Attention
In the latest d2baseballnews.com poll, West Georgia moved up three more spots, now sitting at 17
th in the nation. UWG also moved from fifth to third in the South Region rankings, following only the top ranked Tampa Spartans and fellow GSC opponent West Alabama Tigers.
Also, the Wolves came in ranked at 15
th in the first NCBWA Division II National poll of the 2016 season. This comes a day after the Wolves jumped all the way to 14
th in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper D2 Poll.

The Wolves now prepare for their first Gulf South Conference action of the season, as they will travel to Florence, Ala. to take on the North Alabama Lions in a three game series. There will be two games played on Friday, February 19 beginning at 2:00 PM EST. The third game will be at the same time on Saturday, February 20.
