Carrollton, GA - The West Georgia Wolves baseball team looks to pick up some momentum headed into another weekend GSC series as they host the North Georgia Nighthawks in midweek baseball at Cole Field. UWG enters the game with a 14-6 overall record, posting a 6-6 record in the GSC. The Nighthawks come in at 13-8, with a 6-6 record in the Peach Belt Conference.
Wolves Last Weekend
West Georgia enters this contest with some momentum after taking down Delta State in two out of the three games they played last weekend. UWG took game one by a score of 8-2 over the Statesmen. The Wolves put up fifteen hits in the contest, led by
Artemis Kadkhodaian who had three hits, including a homerun, with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Caleb Lopes also contributed, going 2-4 with an RBI and run scored. He hit his fourth homerun of the year in the first inning.
Garrett Hayes stayed on a hot streak, picking up two more hits and another RBI in game one.
Brandon Goldsmith continued to impress, throwing eight innings and giving up only two runs. He moved to 4-0 on the season.
Game two was a thriller as
Caleb Lopes drove in
Payton Mann in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Wolves a 4-3 win. Lopes ended the game 2-4 with two RBIs.
Payton Mann also had two hits, including a line drive homerun to left field. He had an RBI and two runs scored in the game.
Colton Duttweiler threw four innings, giving up only two runs. Tritt Fennell pitched two innings, giving up two hits and no runs in the process.
Matthew Norton got the win, throwing two innings and giving up three hits and a run. Norton moved to 2-1 on the year.
West Georgia fell 6-3 in game three of the DSU series.
Drew Eady was 2-4 with an RBI.
Garrett Hayes and
Ben Utley each picked up an RBI in the game as well.
Josh Morgan threw 3.2 innings, giving up four hits and no runs in relief for the Wolves.
North Georgia at a Glance
