Carrollton, GA - This weekend, the University of West Georgia Wolves baseball team welcomes the Mississippi College Choctaws to Cole Field for a three-game Gulf South Conference series. The Wolves and Choctaws begin their series with a single game on Friday evening at 5 p.m. with a Saturday doubleheader set for 1 p.m.

The Wolves are currently 16-9 on the season including a 7-8 mark in GSC play. MC comes to Carrollton with an 11-13 overall record and a 4-10 record in conference play.

The two squads are coming in on opposite ends of the spectrum as UWG has dropped three of their last four, including two of three to West Florida, while Mississippi College took two of three from Christian Brothers last weekend, and defeated William Carey in midweek action.

UWG's Caleb Lopes ranks third in the GSC in batting, coming into the weekend with a .429 batting average. Lopes has only struck out four times this season in a total of 84 at-bats which is second fewest in the league.

On the mound, the Wolves have two in the top five in the conference in earned run average. Colton Duttweiler has made six starts this season, throwing 25 innings and is second in the GSC with a 2.16 ERA. Brandon Goldsmith is fifth in the GSC with a 2.61 ERA, throwing 48.1 innings. Goldsmith is ninth in the league in strikeouts with 42.

For the Choctaws, Jake Fraze is their go-to starter, as the sophomore lefty is 5-1 on the season with a 3.33 ERA. Tyler Scholl is MC's top reliever, making 16 appearances with 19.1 innings pitched and a 0.47 ERA. At the plate, the Choctaws are led by Hunter Bolin with a .385 average. Will Elliot leads MC in long balls with three homeruns on the year.

First pitch in the series is set for Friday evening at 5 p.m.
