Carrollton, GA - It was a great day for the University of West Georgia baseball team as the Wolves took both games of a GSC doubleheader from the Lee Flames. The Wolves totaled 21 hits on the day, while holding Lee to 12.

Game One
The first two innings were scoreless in game one as both starters gave up hits but no runs. Lee broke through in the third inning as they scored a run and chased starter TJ Watson from the game. The Flames scored two more in the inning to take a 3-0 lead into the fourth.

The Wolves opened their scoring in the fifth as Tyler Hutch crushed his team-leading fifth homerun to cut the lead to 3-1. The Wolves took their first lead of the game in the sixth as they scored three runs to lead 4-3.

The inning started with back-to-back singles by Caleb Lopes and Garrett Hayes. Lopes and Hayes then advanced a base and Artemis Kadkhodaian walked to load the bases. Keith Buckhault then delivered with a pitch-hit single that pushed two runs across the plate. A Drew Eady single pushed the final run of the inning across to give UWG a 4-3 lead.

The Wolves picked up another run in the seventh inning started by Tyler Hutch being hit by a pitch. Ben Utley moved Hutch over on a sacrifice bunt, and with two outs Garrett Hayes doubled to give UWG a 5-3 lead. Lee responded in the bottom of the inning with a homerun by Luke Toms to make it a 5-4 game.

The Wolves again responded in the top of the eighth as Artemis Kadkhodaian hit a two-run homerun to push the UWG lead to 7-4. Drew Eady then singled and advanced to third on an error. He then scored on another error by Lee, making it an 8-4 lead. At this point, nine out of the ten West Georgia hitters had a hit in the game.

The Flames picked up one run in the ninth, but the Wolves got the win 8-5. Garrett Hayes was 3-4 with an RBI and run scored. Artemis Kadkhodaian went 2-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs, and a homerun. Josh Morgan got the win, pitching three innings of scoreless baseball.

Game Two
Game two started similarly to game one as there were no runs scored in the first two innings. Starting pitcher Colton Duttweiler gave up no hits through the first two innings of the game.

The Wolves broke through in the third inning for the first score of the game. A Ben Utley single followed by Caleb Lopes being hit by a pitch set up a Garrett Hayes double that scored Utley. Dalton Rogers then singled, scoring Lopes making it a 2-0 game headed to the bottom of the third. The Flames picked up a run in the bottom of the third inning to make it 2-1 lead.

From there it was a pitching duel as neither team scored, ending the game at 2-1. Tritt Fennel was great in relief as he threw three innings, giving up only one hit while striking out six. Tyler Gunnin came in with two on and none out in the bottom of the seventh, but was able to hold on and get the save. Dalton Rogers and Ben Utley had two hits for the Wolves.
