Carrollton, GA - The UWG baseball team won its tenth straight game on Tuesday evening as they defeated the Georgia College Bobcats by a score of 14-10. The Wolves used a six-run second inning and an eight-run seventh inning to pull out the victory. The Wolves (27-10, 15-9) had nineteen hits on the day.
How it Happened
The game started out in Georgia College's favor as they scored four straight runs in the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead headed to the bottom of the second. For the Wolves,
Dalton Rogers began the second inning with a double, followed by a double by
Tyler Hutch to drive in Rogers.
Garrett Hayes then hit a two-run homerun to right centerfield to cut the lead to 4-3.
Keith Buckhault kept the inning alive with a single and moved to second on a single by
Artemis Kadkhodaian.
Cade Marlowe then singled, driving in Buckhault to tie the game at 4-4. A
Caleb Lopes double drove in Kadkhodaian and Marlowe to give UWG a 6-4 lead after two innings.
The Bobcats were able to respond as they scored a run in the third and three runs in the fourth to take an 8-6 lead over West Georgia. The Score remained the same through the fifth and sixth innings before UWG broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh.
The inning began with a
Dalton Rogers single and a
Tyler Hutch double to put two on with no one out.
Garrett Hayes then hit an RBI single to cut the lead to one.
Keith Buckhault doubled with one out to tie the game at 8-8. After a
Payton Mann walk,
Artemis Kadkhodaian gave UWG the lead with a single to right.
Cade Marlowe then walked with the bases loaded to score another run, followed by an RBI single from
Caleb Lopes.
Dalton Rogers followed with another hit and two RBI.
Tyler Hutch ended the scoring in the inning with an RBI single. The Wolves left the seventh inning with a 14-8 lead.
Georgia College added two runs in the eighth to put the final at 14-10 West Georgia.
Turner Edwards got the win for West Georgia.
Garrett Hayes stayed hot with a 3-5 day, including a homerun and three RBI.
Caleb Lopes also had three RBI in the game.
Tyler Hutch,
Keith Buckhault, and
Dalton Rogers each added three hits.

West Georgia was scheduled to play tomorrow, but that game has been moved to Thursday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m. EST against Miles in Birmingham, AL at Rickwood Field.
