YOUNG HARRIS, GA - It was an offensive explosion on Tuesday as the West Georgia Wolves Baseball squad won their 14
th consecutive game, defeating Young Harris 18-7 on the road.
Tyler Hutch led the way going 3-for-4 with a double and a homerun and six RBI to go along.
Dalton Rogers ended his day going 2-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBI.
Artemis Kadkhodaian also had a multi-hit game going 2-for-5 with an RBI.
How It Happened
UWG got on the board first as the Wolves (31-10, 18-9 Gulf South) struck for two in the second inning.
Dalton Rogers led off the frame with a single and advanced to third on a
Tyler Hutch double. The Wolves scored the two runs on back-to-back fielder's choices by
Ben Utley and
Payton Mann.
West Georgia added a run in the third as
Cade Marlowe roped a leadoff single and advanced to second after junior
Caleb Lopes was hit by a pitch. After a flyout advanced the runners to second and third,
Tyler Hutch picked up an RBI with a sac fly.
Dalton Reagin got the start for head coach
Skip Fite and pitched three relatively stress-free innings before running into trouble in the fourth. The inning started with a single and then Reagin got two quick outs, but YHC then responded with three straight hits, scoring three runs to tie the game.
In the fifth inning, West Georgia regained the lead with RBI from Rogers and
Garrett Hayes, only to have Young Harris (12-31, 6-18 Peach Belt) match their two runs with a pair of their own in the bottom half.
Tyler Hutch got a big time hit in the seventh inning, driving a three-run homer, his eighth of the season, that gave UWG the 8-5 lead.
In the bottom of the frame, however, YHC struck for two on a solo homerun and two hits that scored the second run of the inning.
The Wolves added four runs on five hits in the eighth. The first came as
Ben Utley led off with a double and then scored on a
Payton Mann single. After Mann was picked off, three Wolves in a row reached base with Lopes picking up an RBI and
Tyler Hutch driving in another pair with an RBI single of his own.
Two walks and a single by
Artemis Kadkhodaian brought in another run in the top of the ninth for West Georgia. Later in the frame, with the bases loaded, the Wolves got another run as Lopes was hit by a pitch with the bases full.
Dalton Rogers added four more with a grand slam in the ninth, putting the Wolves up by 11 runs with three outs to get.
Mitchell Mannino pitched the last 2.1 innings for the Wolves, giving up just one hit and striking out four.
Turner Edwards picked up the win for the Wolves.

Senior
Tyler Hutch had six RBI which is tied for the highest by a UWG player this season.
Garrett Hayes also had six RBI on two occasions this season.
Dalton Rogers' grand slam is the first grand slam by a UWG player since
Garrett Hayes hit one on the road at Delta State on March 29, 2015. Rogers now leads the team with 50 RBI which is the most by a UWG player since Bradley Abell had 48 RBI for the Wolves in 2008.
