UWG Wins Fifteenth Straight Game

Carrollton, GA - The West Georgia Wolves baseball team won another midweek game on Wednesday as they took down the Miles College Golden Bears by a score of 9-5. The Wolves (32-10, 18-9 Gulf South Conference) had ten hits on the day. TJ Watson got the win, throwing 5.1 innings while giving up only one run and striking out four. Artemis Kadkhodaian had two hits and three RBI.

How It Happened
West Georgia got a run in their first at-bat as Artemis Kadkhodaian reached on a bunt single, stole second and advanced to third on a ground ball, and later scored on a wild pitch.

The Golden Bears answered right back with four runs of their own in the second inning, aided by a UWG error.

After three and a half scoreless innings, the Wolves finally broke, through taking the lead with a three spot in the sixth. Garrett Hayes led off the inning with a single, and then advanced to second on a Drew Eady sac bunt. The next batter, Ben Utley, reached on an error and moved Hayes to third. Payton Mann then gave the Wolves the lead with a bases clearing single, and then scored on a sac fly by Kadkhodaian.

The Wolves got another pair of runs in the seventh courtesy of a long ball by senior Garrett Hayes, his fifth home run of the season.

On the first pitch of the eighth inning, Miles got a run back with a homer of their own, cutting the lead to 8-5.

In the bottom half, West Georgia got a run after Dalton Rogers drew a walk with the bases loaded, picking up his 51st RBI of the season.

Tyler Gunnin pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth inning. He struck out two batters and threw only 11 pitches.
