LIVINGSTON, AL - The series finale would not go West Georgia's way as the Wolves baseball squad dropped a 7-5 game three to West Alabama on the road on Sunday evening in Livingston, Ala.
The loss drops the Wolves to 33-12 and 19-11 in Gulf South Conference play with one more weekend series left in the regular season.
How It Happened
West Alabama jumped out to an early lead for the third straight game on Sunday. After loading the bases,
Josh Morgan gave way to
Joe Vonderschmidt, who walked in two runs, ending his day.
Dalton Reagin then came in and induced two straight ground balls, one being a double play, ending the inning and limiting the damage to just three runs.
Drew Eady cut the UWA lead to one in the fourth inning with a two-run homer to left field.
Tyler Hutch scored on the long ball as the senior right fielder led off the frame with a single.
The Tigers responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half with a two-RBI triple that extended the lead back to three.
West Georgia would square things up in the fifth after back-to-back leadoff singles by
Cade Marlowe and
Caleb Lopes.
Tyler Hutch then singled home Marlowe and moved Lopes to second.
Garrett Hayes would move the runners over as he grounded out, setting up
Drew Eady for a big two-RBI single, tying the game at five each.
In the sixth inning, however, UWA would score two runs, one on a sac fly, and one on a single, to regain the lead, and that's how it would end.
Inside The Numbers
Drew Eady had four RBI, good for his sixth multiple RBI game and the first of the season with more than three. Junior Catcher
Payton Mann has now reached base safely in 15 consecutive games.
