Carrollton, GA - The University of West Georgia Wolves ended their season with a bang as they completed another Gulf South Conference series sweep on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves (37-12, 22-11 GSC) used nine runs on twelve hits to win game three against the Union Bulldogs by a score of 9-2.
How it Happened
Senior
Josh Morgan got the start for the Wolves on Senior Day, pitching six innings while giving up two runs and striking out four. After the Bulldogs scored a single run in the top of the first, UWG responded with two of their own in the bottom of the inning.
The inning began with an
Artemis Kadkhodaian walk and a single from
Cade Marlowe. Caleb lopes then singled, driving in Kadkhodaian for the first West Georgia run.
Dalton Rogers then hit a sacrifice fly to left field, driving in the second run of the inning.
The score remained at 2-1 until the third inning.
Artemis Kadkhodaian doubled to begin the inning and advanced to third on a fly ball from Marlowe.
Caleb Lopes then walked, followed by a ground ball from
Dalton Rogers that scored Kadkhodaian for the third UWG run.
The bottom of the fourth inning began with
Garrett Hayes being hit by a pitch.
Drew Eady then reached on an error. Hayes and Eady then moved up a base on a sacrifice bunt from
Keith Buckhault.
Payton Mann followed with a two-RBI double to give West Georgia a 5-1 lead.
Cade Marlowe then drove in Mann on a single to put the score at 6-1.
Union added a run in the sixth on a solo homerun. In the bottom of the seventh,
Dalton Rogers doubled to begin the inning.
Tyler Hutch then doubled, driving in Rogers. Hutch advanced to third on a fly ball and then scored on a double by
Keith Buckhault to make the score 9-2.
TJ Watson threw two scoreless innings while striking out three.
Ethan Hunter pitched the ninth for UWG, giving up no hits and striking out one.
Cade Marlowe was 2-4 on the day with an RBI and run scored.
Dalton Rogers added two hits, two runs scored, and two RBI.
Tyler Hutch also had two hits with a run scored and an RBI.
Payton Mann also had two hits and two RBI.
