UWG Takes on Christian Brothers in a Road GSC Seri

Carrollton, GA - The West Georgia Wolves look to continue their hot streak as they travel to Memphis, TN to take on the Christian Brothers Buccaneers in a three game Gulf South Conference series. The Wolves (23-10, 12-9 Gulf South Conference) have won seven of their last eight games, including six straight. The Buccaneers (7-26, 1-20 Gulf South Conference) come in having lost their last eight games.

Wolves this Week
West Georgia is coming off an impressive win over the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes in a midweek game in Americus, GA. The Wolves had an offensive explosion as they scored 14 runs on 13 hits with the game ending in seven inning due to the run rule.

Dalton Rogers continued his recent hot streak when he drove in two runs in the top of the first inning for the Wolves. Garrett Hayes added an RBI single of his own, giving West Georgia a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Georgia Southwestern added a run in the second inning.

UWG responded in the third as Garrett Hayes singled in two runs and scored on an error to give UWG a 6-1 lead. After a third inning run from GSW, West Georgia scored four runs in the fourth. Dalton Rogers once again drove in a run, followed by a two RBI double from Tyler Hutch. Garrett Hayes then drove in another UWG run on a sacrifice fly.

The Hurricanes added a single run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning, but West Georgia pushed the lead to ten in the seventh when they scored four more runs. Dalton Rogers added fourth RBI with a sacrifice fly that drove in Cade Marlowe. Garrett Hayes doubled in an RBI, while two more runs scored on an error on a hard-hit ball from Keith Buckhault and a single from Payton Mann.

Garrett Hayes had a career night, going 4-4 in the game with six RBI. Dalton Rogers went 2-3 with three runs scored and four RBI. Caleb Lopes added two hits and scored three runs. Tritt Fennel picked up the win, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up only one earned run.

Christian Brothers at a Glance
CBU enters the game hitting .237 as a team with a total of 226 hits. Casey Goodwin leads the team with a .340 Batting Average. He has two doubles and triple on the 2016 season. Michael Halley leads the Buccaneers with 17 RBI. He is hitting .306 on the season. Christian Brothers has a team ERA of 8.20 so far this season. Peyton Sanderlin leads the team with a 6.33 ERA. Phil Goodwin is in his 17th season as the head coach of the Buccaneers.

The series is set to begin on Saturday, April 9 with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m. EST time at Nadicksbernd Field in Memphis, TN. The second game of the series is set to begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The final game is set for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. EST.
