CARROLLTON, GA - The moment that Wolves fans and the UWG baseball program have been waiting on for 18 years returns tomorrow as the Wolves take the field in the NCAA South Regional against Nova Southeastern at 7:00 p.m. in Tampa, Fla. On Thursday evening.
West Georgia hasn't seen the Regional since 1998 when they won the GSC and the Regional advancing to the College World Series for the first and only time in school history.
This season, the Wolves are 39-14 as they enter into this year's postseason as the sixth seed in the tournament hosted by the top-seeded University of Tampa.
UWG is one of three Gulf South Conference teams in the field with West Florida taking the second seed, while GSC Champion Delta State is the fourth seed.
On Thursday, the Wolves take on third seed Nova Southeastern of the Sunshine State Conference in the final game of the Regional's opening day.
The Sharks currently have a record of 35-15 and are winners of seven of their last nine. NSU is 5-4 against top-25 teams this season including an 8-3 loss to Division I power Miami in Coral Gables. This is Nova's second straight trip to the NCAA South Regional as they reached it last season, bowing out in three games in Livingston, Ala.
