Baseball set for GSC Tournament Opener

CARROLLTON, GA - The postseason is here for the University of West Georgia baseball team as the Wolves head to Pensacola, Fla. For this year's Gulf South Conference Baseball Tournament hosted by the University of West Florida.

West Georgia, who earned the fourth seed in the tournament, is set to open the GSC Tournament on Saturday night against the third seeded West Alabama Tigers at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.

The Tigers got the best of the Wolves in the regular season series, knocking off West Georgia in two out of three games on their home field in Livingston, Ala. UWA won games one and three that weekend with the Wolves taking game two.

This won't mark the first time the two squads have met in the postseason as UWA and UWG have met three times at the GSC Tournament in the past four season, including a thriller last season, in which West Alabama won 3-2 on their way to the tournament championship.

Overall, West Georgia is 6-8 in the GSC Tournament under head coach Skip Fite, and the Wolves will look to improve on that at this year's tournament, and play their way into an NCAA Tournament Berth. UWG is currently ranked seventh in the NCAA DII South Region Rankings.

The Wolves and Tigers are set to open the tournament at UWF's Spooner Field on Saturday night at 8 p.m. in Pensacola, Fla.
