Salisbury, NC - The 15th-ranked West Georgia Wolves raced to an early advantage against the Catawba Indians on Saturday afternoon at Shuford Stadium. The Wolves used 23 first-half points to power past the Indians with a 37-9 victory in Salisbury, NC. 

Senior quarterback Willie Candler completed 22-of-34 passes for 220 yards on the day to lead the Wolves to victory. The running game was on point on the afternoon, rushing 32 times for 179 yards, giving West Georgia 399 total yards on the day. Senior receiver John Hurst led the way with five receptions for 81 yards and freshman Chauncey Williams had an outstanding debut, rushing 11 times for 48 yards and two touchdowns. 

The West Georgia defense was equally dominant on the afternoon, allowing just 248 yards of total offense on the day. That included allowing just 92 yards through the air, and true freshman Nasier Currie-Sudler picked off a pass and returned it 35 yards for the score for his first career touchdown. 

Senior linebacker Korie Rogers led the Wolves with six tackles on the day, including two tackles for a loss. Auzoyah Alufohai and Chris Blackston chipped in with four tackles each in the contest. 

West Georgia will be back in action next Saturday, September 7, as the Wolves head to Gaffney, SC for a battle with Limestone.
