Box Score TAMPA, Fl. - The University of West Georgia women's basketball team lost their second consecutive game of the season to the Tampa Spartans by a score of 69-55 in the GSC/SSC Challenge in Tampa, Florida.
West Georgia (0-2) shot 36.2 percent from the field and only 24 percent from behind the arc. Tampa was able to convert 48 percent of their shots while only shooting 28 percent from the three-point line. 
Freshman guard Katelyn Dunning led the Wolves in scoring with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers. 
Tampa started off quickly going up 6-0 before freshman forward Aliyah Washington made it a 6-2 game with a layup. West Georgia was able to keep close for the remainder of 1st quarter trailing 17-11.
In the 2nd quarter, West Georgia increased their defensive intensity and forced three turnovers. The Wolves would eventually take the lead 25-24 after a 7-1 run, capped off by an Aniedi Nsentip layup. The remainder of the half went back and forth with Tampa taking a 33-32 lead into halftime. 
Tampa picked up the intensity in the 3rd quarter outscoring West Georgia 21-10 in the period and took a 12-point lead heading into the final period.
With 5:48 remaining in the game Peace Okeke would make a layup and cut the deficit to seven, but Tampa would eventually hold on for the win. 
Tampa controlled the charity stripe, shooting 25 free throws compared to nine from the Wolves. Tampa also had a slight edge in the rebounding department beating West Georgia 34-28.
Along with Katelyn Dunning's 14 points, freshman Aliyah Washington chipped in 10 points and six rebounds, and senior forward Peace Okeke contributed eight points.
West Georgia will be at The Coliseum for their first home game of the season on November 16 against Montevallo at 7:30 PM.
