CARROLLTON, Ga- Riding the momentum of their first road win this season, the West Georgia women's basketball team now turns its focus to the final non-conference game of the year against the Brewton Parker Barons.
UWG (6-4) brings a perfect home record into Sunday afternoon's final non-conference matchup, aiming to extend its winning streak to six against Brewton Parker (2-11) at the Coliseum.
Coming off a gutsy 72-57 road win in Tallahassee last week, the Wolves aim to keep the momentum rolling on Sunday.
Sydne Tolbert played a key role in the victory, pouring in 18 points while adding five rebounds and three assists, and will once again be central to the Wolves' offensive attack this weekend.
Jasmine Jones was another standout for West Georgia, catching fire in the win over FAMU and finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds, just shy of her first double-double of the season. J. Jones also ranks fourth in the ASUN in scoring at 14.6 points per game, just behind teammate
Asia Donald, who sits second at 15.8.
Off the bench,
Destiny Jones also turned in a strong performance, scoring 13 points and grabbing nine rebounds. D. Jones leads the ASUN in rebounds per game, averaging 9.2. Her energy off the bench will be a key factor for the Wolves as they gear up for ASUN play next week.
As conference play approaches, West Georgia aims to finish non-conference action on a high note and build momentum heading into the new year.
Brewton Parker enters the matchup coming off an 84-53 loss to Southeastern University. The Barons have two players averaging close to double figures, led by Ja'Ka'Yah Draughn at 9.9 points per game and Chasity Degale at 8.6.
Sunday's game marks the fifth all-time meeting between the Wolves and the Barons, with West Georgia holding a 3-1 advantage in the series. The two teams last met during the 1998-99 season, when the Wolves secured a commanding 73-40 victory.
Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m., with live coverage available on ESPN+. You can also follow the action on social media at @UWG_WBB.
