Box Score LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Georgia Wolves women' basketball team was on the wrong end of a 66-48 decision on Saturday as UWG fell to conference foe West Alabama on the road.
West Georgia (8-12, 5-10 GSC) struggled from the field, shooting 16-of-56 and 6-of-26 from beyond the three-point arc. The Wolves also struggled form the charity stripe, going 10-for-20 from the free throw line.
Taking out some frustration after a tough loss at Shorter, the Tigers (14-8, 8-6 GSC) shot nearly 50 percent from the field and had four players in double-figures, led a game-high 18 from Tazsa Garrett-Hammett.
The Wolves got off to a slow start offensively, scoring just eight points in the opening quarter. The Tigers led by 10 after one quarter, and stretched their lead to as much as 15 in the second period, but the Wolves closed on a short 6-2 run to make it an 11-point deficit at the break.
In the third quarter, UWA outscored the Wolves 21-13 and went up by as much as 22 points.
West Georgia outscored the Tigers in the final quarter, but it was too little, too late for the Wolves, as they dropped their second-straight contest, snapping a six-game win streak against UWA in Livingston.
Siera Carter led UWG with 17 points, hitting five three-pointers on the day. The Wolves leading rebounder on the season,
Jaylin Austin grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Wolves return home for a Monday night affair against Montevallo on February 14. That game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
