CARROLLTON, Ga. - The University of West Georgia women's track and field team has one final tune-up this weekend in preparation for the Gulf South Conference Championships at the beginning of next month.
The Wolves are making the trip to Columbia, South Carolina for the USC Opener at Sheila and Morris Cregger Track on Saturday, where they'll compete among 46 teams.
West Georgia is coming off a strong performance at the Berry Field Day Invitational, where West Georgia finished in fourth place.
Junior standout Kira Montefusco set a new lifetime best at the Berry Field Day Invitational, after completing the 100m dash in 11.98, which is the seventh fastest time in the conference.
Freshman, T'oni Birden also set a new lifetime best at the Berry Field Day Invitational in the triple jump, after posting a mark of 11.59, which is tops for all freshman in the Gulf South Conference.
Following this weekend's competition at South Carolina, the Wolves will set their sights on the GSC Championships on May 4-May 6 at Lee.
