Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss. - The West Georgia Wolves softball team fell in the series finale to Delta State, 12-4, on Sunday afternoon.
West Georgia (13-37, 8-19 GSC) struggled on both sides of the ball, registering just five hits and turned four errors on defense as Delta State (18-31, 12-15 GSC) completed the sweep with 12 runs on 11 hits.
The Wolves scored first thanks to a DSU error, and after a three-spot by Delta State, the Lady Statesmen never looked back, adding four in the third, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth to run-rule the Wolves in game three.
UWG got two runs in the fourth on a two-run home run by sophomore Ava Ramirez and then senior Chandler Mevis used a home run of her own in the fifth to account for the Wolves' fourth run.
Ramirez finished the game 2-for-2 with the pair of RBIs.
Camden Smith took the loss, pitching three innings and allowing six earned runs.
The Wolves return home for the final weekend of the season next weekend, hosting Montevallo in three-game set that begins on Friday evening with a doubleheader set for Saturday.
