CARROLLTON, Ga. - The long three month, 47 game regular season has led to this weekend for UWG Baseball, as they get set to open up their Gulf South Conference Tournament run with #4 seeded Valdosta State on Friday afternoon. 
 
The Wolves (31-16, 17-13 GSC) will be participating in the GSC Tournament for the first time since 2021, and are looking for their first win at the tournament since 2019. Leading the charge for the Wolves are their three first team All-GSC selections, Peyton Berry, Anthony Calabro, and Sam Ladner. Berry's eight wins ranks second in the GSC and his 3.94 ERA also stands inside the top 10 in the conference. Berry has gone at least six innings in his last three starts, including a complete game against Delta State two weeks ago. 
 
Calabro has been inside the top 10 in the GSC offensively all season long, and Ladner has been one of the hottest hitters in the line up the past few weeks. In his last five games, Ladner is 9-18 at the plate with four doubles and eight RBI's. 
 
The Blazers (30-16, 18-12 GSC) come in on a four game skid after being swept by West Florida in the final weekend of the season and losing their last midweek against Georgia College on May 1. JP Gates has led the Blazers all season long leading to a first team All-GSC selection at the DH spot, while also being named to the second team as a relief pitcher. His .383 batting average is inside the top 10 in the conference, and he has also appeared 13 times on the mound posting a 3.32 ERA. 
 
These two teams met earlier this season in the regular season, and the Wolves took two games out of three from the Blazers on their home field. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. EST from Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL.
