CARROLLTON, Ga. – After guiding the University of West Georgia Men's Basketball team to two double-digit wins this past week, point guard Zawdie Jackson was named the GSC Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Jackson picks up his third GSC Player of the week nod this season and fourth in his career after putting together a basketball masterclass last week. In two wins over Christian Brothers and Union, Jackson averaged 32.5 points and 5.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game with just three turnovers in 78 minutes. While the junior's stat line is impressive, his efficiency is what jumps off he page as he shot 66% from the field and 71.4% from three.
Through 19 games, Jackson seems to be running away with the GSC Player of the Year award, which will be announced at the season's end. The junior is now averaging 22.3 points and 5.5 assists on 55 percent shooting and 53 percent from three on the season, leading UWG to a 17-2 overall record.
Jackson and the Wolves return home to The Coliseum on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. rematch with the West Florida Argonauts.
