Women's Track and Field concludes UWG Legends Invitational

CARROLLTON,Ga. - The University of West Georgia Women's Track and Field Team completed the final day of the 2024 UWG Legends Invitational. 

It was a great day for the Wolves as a whole, as they scored 228 points which was first out of all groups.

JUMPS AND VAULT
It was another great day for T'oni Birden in the long jump, as she placed first with a 6.02m jump. Taylor Hampton had a good day in the long jump as well, as she placed third with a 5.80m jump. Dasani Minter placed  fifth overall with a 5.44m jump. Alexis Doll was next for West Georgia and finished with a 5.07m jump.

Carleigh Bynum had a day in the Pole Vault. She had a clearance of 3.61m, breaking the school record. Emily Jones was next for UWG as she had a clearance of 3.40m while Elizabeth Osborne recorded a jump of 2.90m. 

There were three Wolves that competed in the High Jump. Haley Trammell placed second, and broke her personal record with a 1.70m jump. Olivia Fulford also had a personal record of 1.64m as she placed fourth. Alexis Doll finished with a 1.45m jump, and Amaya Hammel had a 1.40m jump.

THROWS
Dru Green placed fourth in the Discus throw with a 39.78m throw. Melita Marie- Roachford finished behind her, placing fifth with a 39.36m throw. Four more UWG representatives were in the competition, as Daja Freeman had a 33.48m throw, Kyla Ford finished with a 29.96m throw, Nicole Richards was 26.65m, and Chioma Uwaomah had a 23.05m throw.

In the Javelin Throw, Jaycee Woods placed fifth with a 29.94m throw. Brooklyn Kierbow was next, as she had a 28.43m throw. Trammell finished with a 28.08m throw, and Doll had a 24.58m throw.

SPRINTS & HURDLES
In the 100m relay, Hampton broke a personal record, placing fourth with a time of 12.14. Campbell Brown had a time of 12.25, and Kira Montefusco was right after her with a time of 12.26. Dasani Minter had a time of 12.31, Birden finished with a time of 12.44, and Maniyah Thomas had a time of 12.87.

In the 200 meter, Jeremiah Giddens was the lone representative in the competition, and had a time of 22.18.

DISTANCE
In the 800m, Jordan Jarnot was the lone representative in the competition and had a time of 2:45.51.

Kathrin Maurer placed sixth in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 12:47.70 as she was the lone representative in the competition.

In the 5000m Seeded, Kristal McQueen placed second with a time of 18:49.38. Catherine Greer finished with a time of 20:10.93.

The Wolves placed third in the 4x400. The competitors were Jaeva Ridley, Chloe Leblanc, Valeyna Renteria- Silva, Shamiah Perry.

West Georgia is back in action on Next Saturday April 13th at the Alice Coachman Invitational at Albany State University.
