Bynum, Leblanc, and Walker Shine at ASUN Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- After competing in six events on day one of the ASUN Outdoor Championships, the UWG women's track & field team tallied 12 team points powered by two top-three finishes and two UWG records.

Sprints & Hurdles
The first track event of the day started with a bang, as Chloe Leblanc finished first in the 400m hurdles preliminaries with a personal best and new UWG record time of 59.36 and is projected to win tomorrow's final. Empress Malone finished at 1:12.75 to round out the hurdle group.

The success continued in the sprinting events as Kellie Walker paced UWG with a time of 24.11 in the 200m preliminaries, qualifying for the finals while setting a new personal best and breaking the school record previously set by Ashley Davis in 2016. She was followed by Elise Duncanson, who also recorded a personal best and qualified for the finals with a time of 24.21.

Jumps, Vaults, & Throws
The Wolves opened the field events in the hammer throw, where Dru Green secured a spot in the finals with a personal best throw of 49.02m in heat one. In the following heat, Day Atkins threw 50.42m to also earn her place in the final round. In the finals, Atkins led the way with a mark of 49.15m while Green followed closely behind at 48.86m.

UWG then moved to the pole vault, where Carleigh Bynum shined in the final meet of her collegiate career. Bynum secured a first-place finish with a vault of 3.78m to earn UWG's first gold medal of the championship meet.

Distance
The only distance event of the day was led by Reatta Danhof in the 1500m. Danhof crossed the line at 4:44.36 to qualify for tomorrow's final.
