West Georgia Women Shine in Starkville

STARKVILLE, MS.- West Georgia wrapped up the Maroon and White Tune Up with a strong showing across two days, recording 13 total top-five finishes and a UWG record in its final meet before the ASUN Outdoor Championships in Jacksonville, Florida.

Jumps, Vaults, & Throws
West Georgia opened the day in the pole vault, where Carleigh Bynum led the Wolves with a mark of 3.56m, while Mallory Peavey followed with a clearance of 3.21m.

In the high jump, Bella Jones secured UWG's first top-five finish of the day, tying for third place with a jump of 1.60m, which also ranked as the top mark among freshmen. Nneka Okafor followed with a clearance of 1.40m. In the shot put, Day Atkins added another strong performance, finishing fifth with a throw of 13.48m after capturing first place in the hammer throw on day one. Leilah Mathieu recorded a mark of 11.32m, while Kyla Ford followed at 11.16m.

Sprints & Hurdles
On the track, Chloe Leblanc led the way in the 400m hurdles with a third-place finish in 1:01.10. Empress Malone followed with a time of 1:11.19. In the 400m, Elise Duncanson continued her strong season with a second-place finish, clocking 55.29. Ty Daniel followed closely behind in third at 55.38.

Kellie Walker paced UWG in the 100m, finishing third with a time of 11.99, while Campbell Brown added a fifth-place finish at 12.08. In the 100m hurdles, Kierra McKenna led the Wolves with a time of 15.54, followed by Malone at 15.99. Walker once again led in the 200m, crossing the line in 24.90, with Duncanson close behind at 24.93.

Distance
In the 800m, Reatta Danhof led the group with a time of 2:17.27. She was followed by Linda Rivero at 2:25.05, Jordan Jarnot at 2:27.90, and Linda Vasquez at 2:29.04. In the 1500m, Kristal McQueen posted a time of 5:07.77, while Laney Pierce finished at 5:15.68.

Relays
West Georgia capped the meet in the 4x100m relay, finishing fifth with a time of 47.85. The team of Lia Long, Empress Malone, Kierra McKenna, and Genesis Price represented the Wolves.

Up Next
West Georgia will now turn its focus to the postseason, competing at the ASUN Outdoor Championships in Jacksonville, Florida from May 14-16 to close out the 2026 season.
