ASUN Action Continues in The Coliseum For UWG Volleyball

10/13/2025 11:29:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Following a tough weekend in Kentucky, the UWG volleyball team welcomes a two-match homestead, hosting North Alabama on Friday (Oct. 17) at 6 p.m. and Central Arkansas on Sunday (Oct. 19) at 1 p.m. in The Coliseum. Tickets can be purchased here. Fans are encouraged to wear pink at Friday's match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Coming up on a month since the last victory, UWG (2-17, 0-6 ASUN) looks to snap a seven-match losing streak and secure their first conference win of 2025 this weekend. Leading the Wolves with 192 points and 163 kills is outside hitter Valiree Schmus. In last Friday's match at Bellarmine (Oct. 10), the freshman recorded her ninth double-digit performance of the season, finishing with a team-high 10 points. Continuing to feed her fellow Wolves assist after assist this season is freshman setter Addy Franz. Totaling 402 assists, Franz has recorded 65 percent of the UWG assists, placing her eighth in the ASUN. In the 19 matches she has played, Franz has reached the double-digit assist mark 17 times. As a team, the Pack posts a .130 hitting percentage and a .884 reception percentage

For UNA (10-9, 4-2 ASUN), the Lions are coming off of back-to-back home wins over Stetson (Oct. 10) and FGCU (Oct. 12). Through 19 matches, North Alabama is led by outside hitter Kendall Barnes with 282 points and 257 kills, which places her first in the conference in both categories. In the Lions' 3-2 win over FGCU this past weekend, the Ball State transfer recorded a career-high 31.5 points and 31 kills. Just behind Barnes with 250.5 points and 221 kills is the Lions other outside hitter, Reese Ricketts. These figures rank Ricketts second in the ASUN in kills and third in total points. As a team, the Lions have posted a .239 hitting percentage and a .920 reception percentage. The Lions lead the all-time series 69-16, with the Wolves winning the first head-to-head 2-1 in 1979.

Looking at the Bears (8-8, 5-1 ASUN), Central Arkansas has played excellent against conference opponents, winning 15 of the 21 total ASUN sets, with half of those set losses coming in their lone conference defeat vs FGCU (Oct. 10). Leading UCA with 204 points and 173 kills is preseason All-ASUN selection Laci Bohannan. One of her most impressive performances this season was a 23-point match in the Bears' 3-2 win over then-undefeated Oklahoma (Sept. 21). As a team, UCA has recorded a .230 hitting percentage and a .916 reception percentage. The Bears hold a 7-0 lead over UWG in the all-time series that dates back to 1993.
